Punta Arenas City

 

 

Punta Arenas, Capital of Región de Magallanes y Antártica Chilena, are the main commercial center, of services, communications , historical and cultural of the South of the American Continent.

Their history begins on December 18 of 1848, when the Governor of Magallanes territory, colonel José de los Santos Mardones, case the city to 60 km to the North of Fuerte Bulnes, first Chilean town in the Patagonia.

 

 

Punta Arenas, with more than 130 thousand habitants, it is a strong City that is developed with the example of the Croatian pioneers, Spaniards, Swiss, French, Englishmen, Italian, German, Greek and so many others that, next to the first ones that arrived from Chiloé, forms today a open community to the world vital and generous.

The Región deMagallanes and Antartica Chilena with 1.382.033 Km2, the most extensive in Chile, it is located in the parallel 53° South to the South of the the Cordillera de los Andes next to the the Cordillera Darwin, located in Tierra del Fuego. The Capital of Magellan's Region is Punta Arenas City, before mentioned.
